| ABDUL RAHMAN AHMAD
Abdul Rahman Ahmad, aged 40, is the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Media Prima Berhad (MPB). He joined the Board of MPB on 22 October 2001 and was appointed the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer on 1 September 2003. He is also a member of the Audit Committee.
Since becoming Managing Director, Rahman has led Media Prima’s turnaround and set the company on a solid path towards achieving sustainable growth. In the process, he has put in place the industry’s most experienced and successful management team, strengthened the company’s balance sheet and simplified its corporate structure. Furthermore, he has carried out a disciplined approach to realigning the company’s portfolio of assets to improve returns.
At the helm, Rahman is responsible for all key stakeholders, namely customers, shareholders, board of directors, employees, the community in which the company operates amongst others. Rahman also manages the needs of each respective stakeholder by maximising all available resources and using the right strategies and action plans that would ultimately lead to achieving the company’s business objectives as well as vision to be Malaysia’s leading networked media investment group.
He currently sits on the Board of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), Composite Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd, The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad and Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad (TV3) where he is Executive Director.
He was Chief Executive Officer of MRCB from August 2001 to August 2003, Executive Director of SSR Associates Sdn Bhd from 2000 to August 2001, Unit Head at Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad from 1999 to 2000, Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Trenergy (M) Berhad/Turnaround Managers Inc (M) Sdn Bhd from 1996 to 1999 and Assistant Manager at Arthur Andersen, London, from 1992 to 1996.
He holds a Master of Arts from Cambridge University, England, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England & Wales.
