AHMAD IZHAM OMAR

Ahmad Izham Omar is the Head of Radio Network, Media Prima (HotFM and FlyFM) and Chief Executive Officer of 8TV. He was appointed in 2003 to lead a television station set to revolutionise the local TV industry and is very quick to sense and address the needs of his audiences.

8TV began transmission in January the following year. Since then 8TV has been successful in acquiring a loyal and growing following, driven by Izham's vision for 8TV to be the centre for talent creation in Malaysia and his single-mindedness in making it the hippest and funkiest station in Malaysia. Since its inception, 8TV has received multiple regional creative and production awards.

Under his dynamic leadership, HotFM attracted 2.92 million listeners in just 8 weeks after beginning operations in February 2006, making it the second biggest radio station in Malaysia. He also made FlyFM the second biggest English radio station for 15 to 30 year olds just six months after being on air.

Before this, the multitalented, multi award-winning producer, arranger, songwriter and musician served as A&R Director of EMI Malaysia and Managing Director of record label, Positive Tone. He serves as Vice-Chairperson of MACP Bhd, a performing-rights collection society. Izham has also helped catapult the career of a lot of local artists including the winners of Malaysian Idol, One In A Million and Project Superstar.
