Bukhari was synonymous with TV3 as he was one of the pioneers with the nation's first private and most popular free-to-air television station.
A former journalist with the New Straits Times Press, Bukhari joined TV3 during its early years in November 1984 and was primarily responsible to develop the news department. He played a major role in conceptualising and ensuring the success and popularity of the current affairs and documentary programmes, which led to TV3's success in becoming the nation's favourite TV station in a very short period.
With a strong penchant for news and productions, this mass communication graduate from Universiti Teknologi MARA who specialised in broadcasting was responsible for many of TV3's popular and highly rated programmes.
Bukhari shouldered several huge responsibilities while heading TV3's content creation division. He served as General Manager, Productions in 1996, and assigned as Managing Editor, News and Current Affairs in 1998. While with the Content Creations division, the station introduced many successful programmes that still garner popularity until today, such as Majalah 3 and Nona (magazine), Malaysia Hari Ini and Wanita Hari Ini (talk show), Jejak Kasih (reality), Melodi (entertainment news), Jejak Rasul and Ilmuwan Islam (Documentary) and Senario (comedy).
During his tenure as General Manager for Magazine, Documentary and Family, the division produced many highly acclaimed programmes such as 999 , Misteri Nusantara and Bersamamu. These are his contributions to the station before taking on the challenges at TV9.
With 22 years of experiences in broadcasting and media, Bukhari is the right candidate to helm TV9 as the Chief Operating Officer. Launched on 22 April 2006, TV9 created local broadcasting history by going nationwide on its first day of transmission. It made another history when it started with 9 internally-produced programmes. |
