Primeworks Studios Sdn Bhd is the content creation subsidiary of Media Prima, and the largest production company in Malaysia. Producing TV content since 1984 and feature films since 1994, it generates over 5,000 hours of TV content and 10 movies annually.
From concept development to marketing and distribution, the production house employs a holistic approach to content creation. Drawing upon the expertise of its diversely-experienced production teams, Primeworks Studios develops concepts spanning across various genres, including magazine and documentary, entertainment, sports and drama.
Production of the programmes is supported by well-equipped technical and production facilities, including studios and editing suites. The Creative Services Department spearheads art direction of the programmes, providing set design, marketing collateral, as well as wardrobe and make-up services. Marketing and distribution of the programmes are handled by the Studio Business division, attracting clients from foreign markets including Korea, Singapore, UK, USA and the Middle East.
Primeworks Studios is the creative force behind a major portion of the content broadcasted on Media Prima group's television channels: TV3, ntv7, 8TV and TV9. Flagship shows include Anugerah Juara Lagu, The Golden Awards, Jejak Rasul, Majalah 3, Dunia Tersembunyi, Nona, Showdown, Hip-Hoppin' Asia, Bella and Idola Kecil, some of which have also won prestigious local and international awards.
Feature films by Grand Brilliance, the film production arm of Primeworks Studios, receive international attention through participations in film festivals around the world. Some of these critically-acclaimed movies include Mukhsin; which won the Grand Prix of the Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk for Best Feature Film at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival, Talentime; winning Best ASEAN Film at Cinemanila 2009, Songlap; which won the Best Action Film at the ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards 2013, as well as Istanbul Aku Datang; which competed at the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2013.
