25 Jul 2013 | BOH & Media Prima Join Forces To Launch National Day Campaign 2013

BANDAR UTAMA, July 25 2013 - In conjunction with the 56th Merdeka celebration and the 50th anniversary of the formation of Malaysia, Media Prima Berhad (‘Media Prima”) Malaysia’s largest fully-integrated media group is partnering with BOH Plantations Sdn Bhd (BOH), Malaysia’s largest tea-growing producer, to launch the Saya Sayang Malaysia campaign.

 

The campaign is jointly carried out through Media Prima’s media platforms namely Print, TV Networks, Radio Networks, outdoor and all its digital platforms to commemorate this milestone celebration. Media Prima will continue using its theme #MYSyg (read as hashtag My Sayang) to represent its group efforts.

 

The objective of the Saya Sayang Malaysia campaign is to encourage and inspire Malaysians to share pictures of their great moments as a Malaysian and to pledge their love for Malaysia. Photo entries and pledges can be submitted via BOH’s Facebook page. The top three winners of the photo contest will win RM 5,000, RM 3,000 and RM 2,000 respectively while 50 consolation winners will receive RM 100 each. Winners will be selected via public voting (40%) and by a panel of judges (60%).

According to Encik Ahmad Izham Omar, Chief Executive Officer, Television Networks, Media Prima, “We will be celebrating our 56th year of independence and I am sure there are a lot of wonderful stories just waiting to be told. As the only fully-integrated media group in Malaysia, we are proud to feature your stories across our multi-platformsfor local and international audiences. Based on last year’s encouraging response from the public, Media Prima believes this year’s #MYSyg will be a tremendous success.”

 

Meanwhile, Encik Seelan Paul, Chief Strategy Officer, Television Networks and Chief Executive Officer, Radio Networks Media Prima said, “Media Prima has always been an active participant in the nation building process and as such, is very keen to promote the #MYSyg campaign, for the second year running,which we believe instills patriotism and camaraderie amongst Malaysians. Similarly, as the premier content provider in Malaysia, we are also keen to support programmes that encourage and showcase content made by local talents.”

 

Ms Caroline Russell, Chief Executive Officer of BOH Plantations added, “BOH is privileged to have been part of the Malaysian way of life through the years. We have produced many cups of tea over which people from all walks of life have shared special moments together. We are very pleased to be part of this campaign and we look forward to receiving the pledges and photographs that tell the story of what it means to be Malaysian.” 

 

Russell said that in addition to the photo contest, BOH is also collecting pledges from the public to demonstrate their love for Malaysia. With each pledge collected, BOH will be donating One Ringgit (RM1) to Hospis Malaysia up to a total of RM10,000.

 

 

To conclude the campaign, photos from the contest will be transformed into a larger-than-life photo collage in the form of a teacup, called “The Cup of Life”. This giant cup is to be unveiled at a public event on 21st September 2013. This endeavour will be submitted to the Malaysian Book of Records.

 

Other exciting line-ups from Media Prima in conjunction with this milestone celebration include programmes on its TV Networks. Beginning 16 August to 16 September 2013, there will be special segments featured on its talk shows and news programmes. TV3’s Malaysia Hari Ini, 8TV, ntv7’s The Breakfast Show and TV9’s Nasi Lemak Kopi ‘O’ will be having a live feed of the Merdeka parade. Media Prima’s TV Networks will also be showcasing special programmes underlining patriotic values including the following:

 

  1. Majalah 3 - Perjuangan Mat Kilau (2 September 2013) and 50 Tahun Malaysia (16 September 2013) on TV3 – a story of the late Mat Kilau and a collection of interviews with the people of Malaysia. Ride through history as we go 50 years back before Malaya was declared as Malaysia.
  2. Lahad Datu & VAT 69 on TV3 (26 August and 9 September 2013) and ntv7 (15 & 16 September 2013) - a special documentary on the tragic events at Lahad Datu and the VAT 69 special forces.
  3. Merdeka Day Special 2013 on ntv7 (30 August 2013) - a documentary highlighting the plights of the ‘marginal people’ and how they overcome their struggle to overcome difficulties in obtaining their rights in citizenship and benefits.
  4. Malaysia Day Special 2013 on ntv7 (16 September 2013) - a documentary featuring a music festival in Sabah and Sarawak.
  5. Self-Made on 8TV (29 August 2013) - a special programme showcasing 20 individuals and companies who have made it big in their respective industries.
  6. We’re 1 Malaysia 2013 on 8TV (31 August 2013) - a special programme that explores the beauty of Malaysia and its historical railway system through a railway expedition.
  7. Malaysiaku 2013 on 8TV (16 September 2013) – a special programme featuring the successful people and businesses in Sabah and Sarawak and its cultural diversity.
  8. 9 Soalan on TV9 (12 September 2013) – Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day Special
  9. Merdeka Cup on TV9 (Pestabola Merdeka) (5-14 September 2013) live on TV9 – Witness the excitement of Malaysia’s team against the other Asian Countries.

 

In addition to the patriotic-themed programmes on its TV Networks, Media Prima will also be leveraging on its Print, Radio Networks, digital platforms and outdoor to promote the Saya Sayang Malaysia campaign.
