KUALA LUMPUR, 22 October 2010: Media Prima Berhad (Media Prima) today unveiled the 2011 content line-up which will extend beyond the traditional reach of its four television networks and create an unprecedented multiplier effect by tapping into new media consumption patterns as well as HD technology.
The Media Prima stations – TV3, ntv7, 8TV and TV9 – will be offering a range of compelling content in the year ahead, from award-winning US TV series and top Asian dramas to locally developed favourites, which will engage Malaysians from all walks of life with top notch entertainment and educational value.
"Media Prima is well positioned to tap into the new level of consumer confidence as the economy begins reflecting the signs of a sustained recovery by leveraging on the leadership position of our media assets and growing the potential of our revenue streams,” said Media Prima Group Managing Director Dato’ Amrin Awaluddin in Kuala Lumpur today. 
“We continue to invest in quality programming and branding which retains our core audience, while expanding our reach to a new generation of viewers and we are optimistic that the move to make our presence felt in the new media landscape will be a successful long term strategy," added Amrin.
Collectively, the four Media Prima stations will be investing over RM200 million on local and foreign content as it continues to engage viewers and provide a strategic platform for advertisers to reach out to Malaysians across all segments.
Media Prima’s TV stations have a 49 percent audience share in Malaysia and its content is now accessible via the TonTon portal which was launched in August, offering a new cutting-edge online quality viewing experience with the convenience of customised content and interactivity of social networking.
Amrin also welcomed the 2011 Budget proposal to encourage the development of local content creation, hosting local content and unlocking new stream for content which he said would be a boost to Media Prima’s efforts to nurture more locally produced shows.
“Media Prima has always strived to deliver compelling content but we now need to deliver that in a manner which is relevant to them to where our viewers are, which is increasingly online and on-the-go on mobile devices,” said Media Prima Television Networks Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Seri Farid Ridzuan.
“Our entry into the digital space and integrated offerings for both consumers and advertisers means that our programmes will continue to be watched by and delivered to an even wider audience in a whole new dimension to content and marketing integration. The future for us is very exciting,” added Farid.

Among the new shows on Malaysia’s dominant station, TV3 are historical epic love story Nilapura with it’s a tale of love, jealousy, power and loyalty, the much-talked about US series on a family with special superpowers No Ordinary Family, telematch gameshow Amekaw! and a bittersweet romantic comedy about a mechanic who falls for a rich girl, Cintaku 120km/j. Impian Terakhir, a magazine programme about good Samaritans coming together to fulfill wishes of the chronically ill will also debut next year.

With the strategy of ‘primetime all the time’, TV3 sees a significant increase in fringe time share and in 2011 will see an increase in female-skewed lifestyle programming in the morning . TV3’s flagship magazine programmes such as Majalah 3, 999, Bersamamu, KES, Nona and 360 remain steadfast in prime time, while signature entertainment and variety shows such as Melodi, Muzik Muzik, Jalan Jalan Cari Makan, Jangan Tidur Lagi and Fuhhh! continue to blaze through the program lineup. TV3 is also bringing back Mentor, which continues to break records, with over 3 million viewers per episode!

Reinforcing its position in the Malay market, TV9 is bringing back its successful Galaksi which offers exclusive breaking stories and latest happenings in the entertainment industry, Mangkuk Tingkat where viewers get their favourite food cooked and served by celebrities and entertainment talk show Alahai.

TV9 will also be bringing back its key reality shows such as Idola Kecil and Akademi Al–Quran, two major prime-time hits for the Malay youth, together with 6 Progresif, a drama about a city boy who gets nightmares from his unpreparedness to be transferred to a public high school and Khatulistiwa which sees five friends travel back in time to a mythical and legendary past.

Get ready for war in Perang Chef as two famous chefs and 12 aspiring cooks fight it out in the highly intense weekly challenges. The phenomenal duo, Upin & Ipin, will return with more laughter and cheer in 2011 as the newly created Kelab Upin & Ipin is deemed the hottest new club in town – a definite destination for the cool, hip and young!

Media Prima’s 2011 lineup will also feature exciting kids’ content with titles like Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, SpongeBob, Fan Boy and Chum Chum, and the number one  3D animation in Malaysia, Upin & Ipin with the new season on TV9, while TV3 will have a new animated series Stitch!, something amazing for the girls in Amazing Spiez and Malaysia’s first local 3D animation series, Boboi Boy! Ntv7 will have Metajets and inspiring football anime show Inazuma Eleven as well as the ever popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

With its overwhelming success, TV3’s School Attack and The Reading Room will return in 2011.
8TV, which leads the market for urban youth, will be bringing back The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl , Criminal Minds, Desperate Housewives, NCIS, NCIS LA, 10 Things I Hate About You, American Idol 10, the American Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards, MTV Movie Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards.

8TV will bring in new Hollywood titles like Hellcats which has a law student joining the college cheerleading team, Pretty Little Liars where four girls have a big dark secret to hide and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour which is a spin-off starring Forest Whitaker. 8TV will also introduce local food show Best in the World, Tales Of Darkness which is about the bizarre and unknown, travel show Bantai Asia and the return of the Shout! Awards.

Reinforcing 8TV’s strong Chinese content is Ultimate Power Star which is the biggest singing reality show for groups or solo singers. Return to the 60s and witness the Malaysian film making history in 8TV’s anniversary drama - A Time to Embrace. The thrilling drama reveals the dark side of man through a series of fraud investigations - The Adjusters 2. The Ring Mission, a new reality show featuring wedding planners.  The Brilliant Mind, a new game show that tests the memory power and mental capabilities.

Catch the highly rated blockbuster TVB drama series such as Rosy Business, Beyond The Realm Of Conscience, Catch Me Now, Last One Standing, Just Love II, You’re Hired and Burning Flame III.  On weekdays, showcase the latest dramas such as huge budget costume action drama - All Men Are Brothers, based on the novel ‘The Water Margin’ and its 108 bandit heroes, who live by their wits doing constant battle against corruption and avaricious officials.  Centered around romance, comedy, family affairs, the most popular Korean dramas - He?s Beautiful, Personal Taste, Dong Yi, The Fugitive: Plan B featuring Rain! and Bread, Love & Dreams which is the highest-rated drama in Korea this year.
New Hollywood series on ntv7 include Nikita which is a sexy spy action show starring Maggie Q and supernatural horror series The Gates where vampires, werewolves, witches and humans stay in the same area.

With big hits like Glowing Embers, Age of Glory and The Iron Lady, ntv7 will be leading the way with amazing award-winning local primetime Chinese content. ntv7 will increase its local offerings in 2011 with Tribulations Of Life, The Seeds Of Life, Footprints In The Sand, Woman’s Palm, My Family and I’m No. 1. ntv7 will also produce a stellar range of top Chinese entertainment shows like
Mr. Chinese Malaysia, talkshow Kids Ask Big Questions and
sitcom Radio Life.

ntv7 will also continue showing the best of TVB with an A-list cast in titles like E.U., Born Rich, Sweetness In The Salt, A Greatest Of A Hero and The Threshold Of A Persona. Returning local productions are Finding Angels, Siasat Mandarin, e-7, Women’s Zone, Shout Out Its Showtime, Mandarin Battle Star, and the Star Live Concert 2011 featuring the biggest Asian artists anywhere. On-ground event Yuan Carnival is also slated to be bigger this coming year, covering East Malaysia for the first time.

Living up to its “Come Home To Feel Good” promise, ntv7 is also lining up new seasons of V, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Lie To Me, The Mentalist, Bones, Fringe, American Gladiators and Survivor. Favourites The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Martha Stewart Show, and The Rachael Ray Show will also be back, along with new local talk show Bella.
