Bangsar, 12 MAY 2016 – Media Prima Berhad (“Media Prima” or “the Group”), Malaysia’s largest integrated media group has won two intermedia-globe Gold awards and two Silver awards at the prestigious World Media Festival held in Hamburg, Germany yesterday.
The two intermedia-globe Gold awards were awarded for NTV7’s Feel Good documentaries and another for web events and live streaming of the Piala Malaysia finals. Meanwhile, the two intermedia-globe Silver awards were for Kita Juara trailer and also for Bella Awards promo trailers.
The World Media Festival is an international competition for communication and media practitioners and is one of the most prestigious events within the industry. Organised by intermedia, it honours and celebrates excellent solutions in film, television, print, web and web TV productions on an international level. It is also an important forum for leading communications professionals from around the world and is also the only forum of its kind in Europe. This year, the competition attracted entries from over 280 TV stations, media companies and agencies in more than 40 countries from around the world.
“We are truly humbled, honoured, and at the same time very excited to be within the rank of such fine organisations to receive the coveted intermedia-globe Gold and Silver awards. The awards are certainly testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at Media Prima who dared to continuously push the limits of their creativity,” said Datuk Kamal Khalid, Chief Executive Officer of Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN).
Datuk Kamal paid particular tribute to Consumer Communications Group and Creative Services Department of Media Prima Television Networks. All the hard work and determination from both these departments has instilled positive vibes to further enhance in creating products with high quality and creativity. All four awards were received by Desmond Cheng, Senior Manager of Consumer Communications Group together with Douglas Khoo, the Creative Director of Creative Service Department at the World Media Festival in Hamburg last night.
The World Media Festival is different to most since work is judged not just on its creative and technical excellence, but also, and especially, on how well it speaks to its target audience. In terms of judging, experienced professionals from around the world who are experts in the fields of communications, film production, as well as other subject matter, serve in a volunteer capacity as judges and evaluate all entries prior to the festival event.
All entries are also not judged on budget. Entries from large or small organisations have an equal chance of winning. Among the criteria used for audio visual entries include artistic creativity, technical quality, picture and sound design, clarity, believability, overall impact. For web, factors including content, information, navigation, functionality, design, creativity, believability and overall impact are emphasised. Print entries meanwhile are judged based on content, information, design, creativity, believability and overall impact. All recommendations by the jury groups are reviewed by an executive committee.
“On behalf of all of us at Media Prima, I would like to express our sincerest appreciation to the jury of judges for choosing our work. It is certainly a huge honour to win this award, especially with the calibre of competition we have had this year. The awards also show just how much progress we can achieve when we work together with effectiveness and persistence and these will certainly motivate us to aim higher to bring good, wholesome content to our audiences,” added Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin, Group Managing Director of Media Prima Berhad.
As a winner of an intermedia-globe Gold award, Media Prima’s winning entry automatically qualifies as a nominee for an intermedia-globe Grand Award (best in each of the 14 main Festival categories). From here, the Special Jury for Excellence may then select the winner of the intermedia-globe Grand Prix for best of all the Festival entries. The Special Award winners are also selected by the relevant special juries. Winners of the Grand Awards and the Grand Prix, along with the winners of the Special Awards, will only be announced in the evening at the Gala for the Award Presentation Ceremony, held last night in Hamburg, Germany’s media metropolis.
