KUALA LUMPUR, 11 AUGUST 2016 – Media Prima Berhad (“MPB”, “Media Prima” or “the Group”), Malaysia’s largest integrated media group today announces the appointment of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail bin Haji Omar, aged 63, as an Independent, Non-Executive Chairman of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (“NSTP) effective 8 August 2016.

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail Bin Haji Omar, was recently appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Media Prima Berhad and the Group’s subsidiary company The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad on 20 July 2016. He is currently a member of Media Prima’s Audit and Risk Management committees. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail was formerly the Inspector-General of Police from September 2010 to May 2013 and had served the Royal Malaysian Police with distinction for 47 years. He then continued his service to the country as the Ambassador of Malaysia to France from 2013 to 2015. Prior to his appointment as IGP, the Tan Sri had held several key positions within the Royal Malaysian Police including Deputy IGP, Management Director Bukit Aman, and Chief Police of Selangor among others.

The appointment of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail reflects Media Prima’s commitment towards implementing strategic actions to further consolidate the position of NSTP and the Group as the largest integrated media group in Malaysia.
