KUALA LUMPUR, 11 OGOS 2015 – Media Prima Berhad (“Media Prima” atau “Kumpulan”), kumpulan media bersepadu terulung di Malaysia hari ini mengumumkan pelantikan Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail Bin Haji Omar, 63 tahun, sebagai Pengerusi Bebas Bukan Eksekutif The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (“NSTP) berkuat kuasa 8 Ogos 2016.

Terdahulu, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail Bin Haji Omar, 63 tahun, telah dilantik sebagai Pengarah Bebas Bukan Eksekutif Media Prima Berhad dan anak syarikatnya, The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad pada 20 Julai 2016. Beliau juga adalah ahli Jawatankuasa Audit dan Pengurusan Risiko Kumpulan. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail adalah mantan Ketua Polis Negara (KPN) dari September 2010 sehingga Mei 2013, dan telah berkhidmat bersama Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) dengan cemerlang selama 47 tahun. Selepas itu, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail terus menyumbang khidmat kepada negara apabila menjadi Duta Besar Malaysia ke Perancis dari tahun 2013 sehingga hingga tahun 2015. Sebelum pelantikan sebagai KPN, beliau telah menyandang beberapa jawatan kanan di PDRM termasuk sebagai Timbalan KPN, Pengarah Pengurusan Bukit Aman dan juga Ketua Polis Negeri Selangor.

Pelantikan Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail mencerminkan komitmen Media Prima ke arah melaksanakan tindakan strategik untuk mengukuhkan lagi kedudukan NSTP dan Kumpulan sebagai kumpulan media bersepadu yang terbesar di Malaysia. Datuk Seri FD Iskandar, Pengerusi Kumpulan Media Prima berkata, “Lembaga Pengarah mengalu-alukan pelantikan Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ismail dan yakin bahawa di bawah kepimpinan beliau, NSTP akan terus mengekalkan kedudukan syarikat serta terus menyampaikan nilai kepada pemegang saham. Beliau membawa pengalaman yang luas dan akan memberi sumbangan yang amat bermakna terhadap masa depan NSTP.”
