Bangsar, 27 October, 2016 – Media Prima Berhad, the leading fully-integrated media company in Malaysia, was announced as the Silver award winner for HR Innovation category during the Malaysia HR Awards 2016’s dinner and presentation ceremony at the Hilton Petaling Jaya tonight.

The Malaysia HR Awards is an annual event organised by the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM), in partnership with With an objective to encourage the recognition of HR and the application of HR Strategy and Management in the achievement of business KPIs, the awards also encourage the recognition of HR both as a resource and asset to achieve growth.

Commenting on the win, Puan Nor Arzlin Redzuan, Group General Manager of Group Human Resources, Media Prima Berhad said, “We are truly honoured by this win and feel absolutely grateful. We would like to thank the jury and MIHRM for this recognition that for us, also pays tribute to HR professionals for their outstanding contribution towards the workplace and workforce. We would not have won this award for innovation if not for their sacrifice, patience and understanding of the role we play in Human Resource.”

Strongly supported and endorsed by the human resource community, with the Honourable Minister of Human Resources YB Dato’ Seri Richard Riot Anak Jaem as Patron, the awards are open for both organisations and individuals, with four categories up for grab in each section.

For organisations, the categories include Employer of Choice, SME Best Employer Award, HR Innovation Award and HR Best Practices Award. For individuals, categories up for grab include HR Leader of the Year Award, HR Manager of the Year Award, HR Specialist of the Year Award and HR Best Student Project Award.

Held since 1999, submission for the awards has increased considerably the past four years, from 26 in 2012 to 40 last year. Established since 1976, MIHRM is the principal body for HRM practitioners in Malaysia. It is also affiliated with the US-based World Federation of People Management Association (WFPMA) and Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management (APFHRM), the umbrella organisation of five continental federations which brings duly recognised National HR Institutes under a single body of human resource management professionals.

MIHRM membership is open to individuals and organisations who are engaged in HR functions. It includes HR practitioners, academicians, consultants, general practitioners, senior managers, line managers and all those who are committed to excellence in people management.

In the past, Media Prima’s HR initiatives have also been recognised via various awards such as the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network (Media of the Year award 2015) and the Singapore-based Human Resources Excellence Award (2014-2016).
