BANGSAR, 28 September 2017 – Media Prima Berhad (“Media Prima” or “the Group”), Malaysia’s leading integrated media group today announced three key senior management appointments to the Group. They are:

1. Encik Johan Ishak, aged 42, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN) effective 2 October 2017. As CEO, he will be responsible for the overall operations of MPTN and will focus to strengthen its core businesses while pursuing new business opportunities in line with Media Prima’s long-term growth strategies. Johan will oversee Media Prima’s TV3, ntv7, 8TV, TV9, tonton and the home-shopping business CJ Wow Shop. He will report to Media Prima’s Group Managing Director.

A graduate of Monash University, Australia, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting, Johan is a fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. Before MPTN, Johan was the CEO of MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd since 2012, a government investment arm for the promotion and entrepreneurship of the Malaysian creative industry. During his tenure at MyCreative Ventures, Johan also became a founding member of the pioneering team for arts platform R!UH as well as a founding member of industry think-tank Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA).

Johan was formerly General Manager at the Group Finance Department in Media Prima from 2009 to 2012 where he oversaw Financial Reporting, Financial Strategy, Budgeting, Taxation, Mergers and Acquisitions, Restructuring and Project Feasibility. His other appointments include as Auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu International and Head of Financial Accounting at Petronas Group of Companies. He currently sits on the Board of the Malaysian National Art Gallery and is a committee member of the Global Entrepreneurship Movement Association in charge of Governance and Audit.

2. Encik Fan Chen Yip, aged 46, has been appointed as Head of Key Account Management and Media Sales Planning, Media Prima effective 16 October 2017. He will be responsible for driving the Group’s key sales strategies to ensure sustainable revenue growth and will provide leadership and strategic direction for the Group’s sales operations. He will report to Media Prima’s Group Managing Director.

Fan holds a Diploma in Chartered Institute of Marketing (United Kingdom) and Diploma in International Advertising with over 20 years of experience in the field of sales. His experience covers a wide range of sectors including the automotive industry, fast-moving consumer goods, financial services and telecommunications. Before Media Prima, Fan was the CEO of Posterscope Malaysia, a subsidiary of Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN). Prior to that, he was appointed as Trading Director for DAN in 2012. He started his career in Advertising as Trainee Media Planner in BSB (Backer Spievogel Bates, now known as Bates) in 1991, and was transferred to Zenith Media

Services. In 2004, he became the Business Director at Universal McCann before pursuing his career with Carat Media Services as its General Manager.

Fan is a council member for Malaysian Media Specialist Association (since 2016). He was Vice Chairman and then became Chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) from 2014 to 2016.

3. Encik Alfian Talib, aged 41, was appointed as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP) effective 15 September 2017. As the CCO of NSTP, Alfian will be overseeing the Marketing, Advertising Sales and Newspaper Sales & Distribution (NSD) departments, ensuring growth in all three commercial sections of the company. He reports to the CEO of NSTP.

Alfian holds a Master’s in Marketing Management from New York University (USA) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering from King’s College London, UK. He brings 20 years of experience in strategy, marketing planning and operational improvements primarily in the service and technology industries. Over the course of his career, Alfian has also been able to develop a specialisation and understanding of the SME industry with more than 10 years in serving the sector’s growth. Before NSTP, Alfian was CEO of TM Info-Media Sdn Bhd.

A Telekom Malaysia scholar, Alfian started career in 1998 as a Marketing Engineer for Exxon Chemical Ltd (1998- 2000) before joining Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd in the implementation of the Malaysian Government’s e-procurement system. In 2005, he joined local engineering SME outfit Aerosystems Tactical Sdn Bhd where he headed the business development division. In 2009, Alfian joined the TM group as Assistant General Manager for Business Strategy SME where he rose from the ranks to become the General Manager for Business Strategy & Channel Program Management.

He added that both Fan and Alfian possess the right experience in key industries which will be invaluable in helping Media Prima in delivering media advertising solution to clients wishing to take advantage of the Group’s integrated media platforms. “We are pleased to have them join our senior leadership team where their knowledge and industry familiarity will help Media Prima achieve our sales objectives,” said Datuk Kamal.
