BANGSAR, 7 December 2017 – Media Prima Berhad (“Media Prima” or “the Group”), Malaysia’s leading integrated media group recently introduced a new form of benefit to its employees, as part of its continuous employee engagement initiatives.
Media Prima’s Group General Manager of Group Human Resources Puan Nor Arzlin Redzwan said the benefit, called the Career Break Leave (CBL), is aimed at providing employees a chance to pursue their passion or dream – higher education or even venture into own business. It will also give employees the opportunity for personal matters like child care or focused obligations towards their elderly.
“Besides providing them with training and other benefits, we constantly strive to ensure that our employees also have the opportunities to develop themselves in fields other than their work. In today’s environment, it is not uncommon to hear of change of vocation and fields of interests. We constantly benchmark our employment offerings with industry’s best practices. Hence this CBL is introduced to show employees that their welfare and development is important to us,” she said.
The CBL was introduced to Media Prima employees in batches starting 5 December 2017. It is offered via two categories – Full Time (Unpaid) and Part Time (Half Pay) – to employees who have served the company for a minimum of three consecutive years. There is also an option to take a 6-month CBL or a full year break.
“Other employee compensation and benefit will be offered accordingly to those successful in their application,” said Nor Arzlin, adding that the introduction of CBL is a positive initiative that encourages employees to further their interest while maintaining their employment with the Group.
