KUCHING, 11 November 2019 – Media Prima Berhad (“Media Prima” or the “Group”), Malaysia’s leading fully-integrated media group, and Sarawak-based news publisher, SV News Sdn Bhd (“SV News”) today signed a memorandum of understanding (“MoU”) to embark on a strategic collaboration to enhance media services and content in Sarawak.
The collaboration with SV News’ publications namely, Suara Sarawak and New Sarawak Tribune, involves leveraging Media Prima’s integrated media platforms for mass reach and experience in news publishing, education content, broadcasting operations, content creation and digital consulting.
The overall areas of collaboration will include human capital development, technical know-how, news production, content exchange, marketing and distribution of education content for primary and secondary students, as well as marketing and promotion of Sarawak local and international events.
As a start, Media Prima and SV News have already collaborated in various activities which include the distribution of BH’s education content, BH Didik, BH Minda and BH Skor, in Suara Sarawak, and New Straits Times’ education content, NST School Times, in New Sarawak Tribune.
Witnessed by Datuk Patinggi Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak and Datuk Syed Hussian Aljunid, Group Chairman of Media Prima, the MoU was signed by Dr. Jeniri Amir, Chief Executive Officer of SV News and Datuk Kamal Khalid, Group Managing Director of Media Prima. Also present at the event were several Sarawak State Ministers and State Legislative Assemblymen.
Datuk Kamal Khalid, Group Managing Director of Media Prima, said: “The Group is happy to offer our professional services in, among others broadcasting, sharing of news content and extending media coverage to the State Government of Sarawak. Our various media platforms will be the ideal outlets for Sarawak’s culturally diverse talents and content to reach the rest of the country.“

Among Media Prima’s recent activities in Sarawak this year include Media Prima Digital’s e-sports campus tournament in September, TV3’s live cross-over of Malaysia Hari Ini during the Malaysia Day celebrations on 16 September together with the live interview of Sarawak’s Deputy Chief Minister on Buletin Utama on the same night, and the first Drama Festival Kuala Lumpur (“DFKL”) — Sarawak Chapter, in October.
